Just like Fred
I like cricket. In fact, I love it.
And when I was a little younger, there was this great character from Yorkshire called Fred Trueman. He’s a bit of a legend round these cricketing parts. “Fiery Fred”, they called him. Bloomin’ fast bowler he was too. Back in the seventies he was pretty much a household name.
And the wise old people at Yorkshire TV decided that it’d be rather good to put him on in the early afternoon, wearing a rather fetching cardigan and smoking his trusty pipe, presenting people playing a load of pub games which virtually anyone could play, including darts.
His signing-off catchphrase was “I’ll see thee“. Now that’s what I call the perfect sign-off.
